I program with FileMaker, PHP, and other supporting technologies. Love to learn new languages (hoping to find a good place to begin using real-world Ruby on Rails). My current projects include some FileMaker desktop and web applications for clients and becoming familiar with MacVim after using TextMate for years.

comment Open Source Client-Based Project Management?
Although I didn't see the "Roll requiring permissions to be set," the tips and links you provided did the job. I now have a site where each client can see and edit their projects but no one else's.

comment PHP - How to Automatically Post Form in Another Website and Parse the Result
I'm not a legal expert, and if you are, please correct me, but I believe that while a database as a whole can be subject to copyright protection, individual pieces of information within the database may not be. I'd consult a lawyer regarding that issue.

comment Why do programmers use or recommend Mac OS X?
I do three major types of development. Web development using PHP or Ruby, which requires testing the web application across browsers on all three platforms. Desktop applications built with REALbasic which generally need to run on at least Mac and Windows and sometimes Linux, also need to be tested across platforms. Finally, database development using FileMaker, which needs testing on Mac and Windows. Generally I write the software on the Mac side and test it on each individual platform.

comment Why do programmers use or recommend Mac OS X?
No, I'm saying the advantage is that it runs all three operating systems. With an OS X machine I can run Mac OS X, Windows 7 and Ubuntu on a single machine. That's not possible with another OS. I'm also saying, in my answer to your comment, that I like OS X regardless of its development advantages.

I would use Mac OS X even if I weren't a developer. That's my personal preference. I only use Ubuntu and Windows for testing purposes.
