Developed vertical market applications with Informix-SQL. Currently attempting to re-write them with MS-Access, but need help. I can be reached at frankcomputer@ymail.com

My point is, it doesn't directly compile into x86 assembly language, if you're on an Intel or AMD-based computer. Internal byte code -> assembler is not 1:1 same. Do the test and compare them. (see: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X86_assembly_language

I always thought higher-level languages compiled into object (machine code) or pseudo-code, and not into ASM.

@Jon, +1 for making that point!.. It all depends on what your role is!.. If I had spare time, it would be interesting for me, as a hobby, to tinker with ASM, but I don't have any plans in writing internals, device drivers or autonomous Mars rovers!.. There's more possibility for bugs, the lower the level of programming languages because humans must worry about many more complex things!

Since I specialize in developing business applications, I primarily rely on SQL-based app development tools which use a 4GL. They allow me to quickly prototype an app and customize it into a production system. Rarely do I need to write a callable cfunc. Time to deliver and time to modify are big factors in my world!

New York's Mayor Mike Bloomberg is now suing SAI to reimburse the city over $600M of the $730M+ paid!.. This is the largest fraud committed against the City of New York!

It's called "obfuscation" and although it is being more frequently used these days, its not full-proof!..although it will delay someone from cracking the code, it can be cracked!..what I would like to see is a compiler that can encrypt the object code and only be executed with the correct key, so that even someone with a disk editor, disassembler or any other cracking tool will never be able to make heads or tails out of it!

SAI (Science Applications International), the main contractor for New York City's "CityCrime" project, has agreed to reimburse NY millions of dollars from the over-billing that several of their ex-contractors (now criminally indicted) paded the bill!

just to update you on the CityTime project, the project mgr.(a contractor who was being billed at US$640K/yr) just got fired! a common problem that plagues government projects is that governments are unable to attract (as employees) enough talent needed to get the job done right, thus having to outsource projects to contractors!
