comment Managers X Motivation
As someone said in another discussion: "Secretaries waste time on the Phone, Programmers in the Web. But take the Phone or the web away, and see how productive they are now"

comment Why is closure important for JavaScript?
When the performance impact is not too great, i would prefer the anonymous variant. could you recomend some places where i could educate myself on the expensiveness?

comment Why is closure important for JavaScript?
@Raynos: zero reason seems a little hard. For example, function get_birthdaycount_for(date) { return customers.filter(function(c) { return c.birthday == date }).length() } does not seem particularly evil to me.

comment Is there a language or design pattern that allows the *removal* of object behavior or properties in a class hierarchy?
'without having to use some horrible hacks everywhere': disabling a behaviour IS a horrible hack: it would imply that function save_yourself_from_crashing_airplane(Bird b) { f.fly() } would get a lot more complicated. (as Peter Török said, it violates LSP)

comment Softpedia published some of my open source projects — how to react?
If you would feel wronged by commercial, would you have chosen licenses that explicitly allow it?

comment How can I know when my application is too complex?
Maybe also noteworthy: thinking the question, what the 'real' problem is, may often change the perception of what would be an easier way.

The test goes like this: do you think it's complete? if your answer is yes, it probably is. :)

comment Using work time effectively: How to create code quickly?
Maybe i'm just a slow thinker, but i rarely feel limited by my typing speed (i type without looking, of course, but no touch-typing). I tend to assume that my thoughts are overcomplicated and should be refactored, when they need too much text.

comment What is a reasonable and secure password requirement for user registration?
@WayneM: One could choose a cryptic phrase, pin it on the monitor, and prefix it with an easy-to-remember, always-the-same 'classic' password.
