I love developing software :)

I do most of my work with C++, though I have done a fair amount of web programming with PHP. I work a lot with Qt.

Did I mention that I hate Internet Explorer? Don't get me started... (see this post)

If you are looking for a good text editor, I highly recommend PowerPad.
(Yes, I wrote it.)

Django now runs on Python 3, FWIW.

comment Good resources and tools for modern, heavy JavaScript development?
@Noctis: It's fully open-source, though. So anyone could easily pick it up and run with it. (The code is written in C++ and uses Qt.)

comment Good resources and tools for modern, heavy JavaScript development?
@Noctis: Sadly, no. I ran into some complications implementing code completion and the project has essentially sat idle for the last year or two.

comment Break on default case in switch
A good compiler would treat the final break as a NO-OP instead of generating a jmp to the next instruction, correct?

comment Is this an implementation of the promise pattern?
Nope, not a homework problem. Actually, I wanted to use the word "promise" in the class name and wanted to make sure it was accurately labelled.

@DeadMG: Well sort of... except this isn't a multithreaded application.

@Jonas: Very early Windows build here - some things don't work yet, but you can at least open / save files and a few other things.

comment Good resources and tools for modern, heavy JavaScript development?
@Jonas: Unfortunately, at this early stage, there is only a binary for Ubuntu. But hopefully I'll have time to create a Windows binary further down the road.

comment Why aren't more desktop apps written with Qt?
"The fact alone that it is C++ will make every Qt programmer significantly less productive compared to Frameworks written in other languages." [citation needed]

comment Is it worth Learning XML as a web developer when JSON is better for AJAX?
True... I guess other applications aren't jumping onto the JSON bandwagon... and that's also not to say XML is bad - just that it really isn't suited very well for storing configuration data.

comment How to distribute our software on Linux without shipping source code
@Jeff: Right, that's what Opera does - their browser is not open source, so they provide precompiled binaries in an APT repository so that users can stay up to date.

I'm not so sure. I've switched to JSON for storing configuration data in most of my programs.

Ah, thanks. Do you know if reproducing the translations would fit Wikipedia's content licensing?

@txwiki: Dutch primarily.

comment Where can I find translations of OSI-approved licenses?
@David: Unfortunately I am not really fluent in any language other than English. Someone else has translated a large portion of my application into another language and I wanted to spare them the hassle of translating the license. I just took it for granted that someone had already done this somewhere and I could just copy the translation.

@Kevin: It needs to be very accurate.

I agree that Mono is somewhat lacking in core functionality, but it isn't too bad. I had the chance to try it out a bit.
