Its all in Java now - they're talking about bringing back the javaFX script at some point, but no timeframes have been set yet. Also I think you've hit the nail on the head, with Oracle backing the technology it should definitely be worth consideration

@S.Lott I don't follow - the client is based around events driven from the JMS connection, if the JMS connection doesn't work properly then the client wont work properly.

@S.Lott @Martin I wanted other potential solutions to the problem but the consensus seems to be that JMS is the best solution for my use case. I've edited my question to know look specifically at the JMS issues that I'm having

@S.Lott @Martin : I'm a bit weary of documenting the problems I've had with JMS on this question, as I think the original question would then become lost amongst the advice about JMS. I would quite happily split that off into a new question instead?

@S.Lott my trials and tribulations with JMS are a story in itself, for simplicities sake I'd just prefer to leave it out as a possible solution
