Interviews: How far to go on DVCS experience? @James Khoury I asked "Can you tell me about your experience with Git?" and the candidate responded "Yes, I've worked with GitHub" so I think I prompted a response that was a little more elaborate than that. I'm not a pro-interviewer, though :) |

How do I improve my skills working in a small shop? @CKoenig yes, but don't feel obligated to accept one answer here. This site is slightly more discussion driven than others. Also, I'd look for open source projects that you think are interesting and have a go at it. It sounds like you would find it fun :) |

Is there an analogue to “FizzBuzz” for choosing clients? @Joel Etherton - that pretty much sums up my freelance career exactly. I think some freelancers are too static with their rate and suffer because of it. |

Why shouldn't “responsive” web design be a consideration? Well, I think it's definitely difficult to introduce a responsive design to a site that is deployed or mid-cycle, but I think it would be much easier to implement something like this instead of having a whole other mobile subdomain. Luckily though, Rails is abstracting this task a little bit with inherited templates. |

Have you ever had doubts about doing a software opensource or commercial? Make it opensource. Wait for $BIG_COMPANY. Keep waiting. Lost in the abyss. Forever alone. It's that easy! |

Using Git in Enterprise environment I think gitolite (or similar) deserves a mention here. A lot of security people like the local, closed off, and in control option of hosting the repo locally. |
