@S.Lott Thanks for your additions (you too @Steve314), I learned something interesting, and reversed my vote.

Sometimes your answers strike me as dismissive, but this one is just useless. I don't know whether you are trying to help here, but doing it badly, or if you are just talking to yourself. I could ask you what you mean by 'pure evil', but the beauty of the good answers above is that I don't need to start a conversation in order to learn something.

comment Using Jython and Tomcat in bundle - should we even try to?
Well, it's true that Python has changed a lot since 2.0, but I don't know that it's changes have been more rapid than Ruby. But the Ruby folks I know speak positively about JRuby, where no-one I've encountered in the Python community talks about Jython. I've heard more about IronPython, and even PyPy.

Scala is another good option, particularly if you want the static typing benefits of Java.

I wouldn't want to hire a candidate that can't code FizzBuzz while nervous.

comment Is programming a profession not for a person with speech impairment?
What vocations do you recommend more? Every job requires communication, and in software you can do much of your communication with your fingers. Most vocations require more talking, not less.
