I personally do a lot of verification before running critical functions as to try to limit errors that I do not fully understand and can't provide useful error handling that returns detailed information. It doesn't work 100% of the time, but I can't remember the last time I had a bug that had me lost for hours.

Yeah I have heard that the future of WPF isn't solid. However I have heard that the future of .NET in general isn't solid (i can't remember the blog I read this on ..) So it is hard to say.
