comment What does 'stage' mean in git?
@8bittree The difference between git and any sensible VCS is that you don't need to know what it's doing for it to just work. If SVN is staging my commits seamlessly without my knowledge, then why can't git do it?

comment Does SCRUM lend itself to multi-project environments?
Yes. You're assumptions are correct. Each project is it's own scrum team. If they're all releasable on their own, then it will work great.

comment Using Git in Enterprise environment
Question is on hold, but regarding the support question, you can buy support for git from GitHub and you can buy git or mercurial support from Atlassian via BitBucket or Stash. Any of them let you host internally or on their servers.

comment Do Scrum sprints mean to work at the fastest pace possible?
The team should, but like I said, they have an incentive to pad estimates. If the PO is the one paying, they can apply pressure to estimate more aggressively. For background, I work in consulting so the scrum team is my co-workers, while the PO is usually external and paying our inflated bill rate :)

comment Why does Java not do type inference?
It disambiguates from a case where the two types are not the same. You could just as easily assign an instance of a subclass.

comment Settle an Argument: String vs. Array?
Just to clarify one little thing, a byte array can only store single-byte character encodings like ASCII or Latin-1. Java Strings are arrays of chars which are 2 bytes each for supporting UTF-16.

comment Is Node.js correct choice for JSON parsing and IO driven
I can't find the cite atm, but I think there's no way any server-side platform would outperform Java right now. There are NIO frameworks for Java if you're concerned about concurrency.

comment Should I retrieve one large set of data to filter or smaller individual sets of data?
Agreed. There are a million variables, but this is the default approach. SQL databases are good at this kind of thing and you shouldn't try outsmart it unless it's a proven bottleneck.

comment What is the best way to load balance javascript applications?
Profiling is not debugging. It's step 1 when you're optimizing. Load balancing usually implies splitting load across machines which is obviously not an option in client-side code. And JavaScript is single-threaded by design like any other UI platform. See stackoverflow.com/questions/5544447/…
