Write correct code. Some kids may read it some day.

comment How is Python used in the real world?
I would downvote it solely for "The thing about interpreted languages is companies that don't want to give their source code away don't use it in delivered software". @DanielB: See eg. this link ("The depth and breadth of Python" by Guido van Rossum), beginning with "Python plays an important role in Dropbox's success (...)". It ends with this: "beware that the source code is not included and the bytecode is obfuscated. Drew's no fool. And he laughs at the poor competitors who are using Java.".

comment Django as Python extension?
@loudandclear: Or I should replace cursor.fetchall() with solution using cursor.fetchone(), or change PHP example to one using PDO and PDOStatement->fetchAll(), but let's agree I am not trying to prove (PHP|Python) is better than (Python|PHP) and it does not really matter in that level of detail. I am not trying to write two apps for OP (one in PHP and one in Python for comparison).

comment Django as Python extension?
@YannisRizos: Thanks! Yes, it is. PHP also gains a lot with newer versions (5.3 was major improvement and I regret to say I saw too much hosting providers with default PHP version below that, but that is off-topic). I am going to remove my comments as they are pointless now. Good luck!

comment Django as Python extension?
@NoobDev4iPhone: Error message says it all, the connection has been refused. Check the IP and port (if they are correct), check the firewall on both machines, client and server (if it blocks the connection, make it pass through), and if it fails, maybe replace localhost with actual IP address, as it may not be a localhost.

comment Directly modifying superglobals
Good question. Modifying global arrays is wrong in the same way using global values is wrong. Also these arrays have their purpose (passing parameters from outside) that makes altering them a straight way to mess within the code. But, I believe some of these arrays may be sanitized at the begginning of the script, just not to cause problems within the code.

comment how to use version control
@Apalala, you may be right - I use Git extensively since the time I learned it and I stopped using SVN in projects I do not have to use it. However, the 'trust' part is still an issue for me and I still hope it will be solved in the future. Also thanks for the Linus's video, will look the whole presentation :)
