Is it possible to test a theory? ok i've explained it above: alright, here is what we are trying to do, we are trying to categorized the functional requirements, under three main categorize, the inputs, outputs and the processes, that way we can create sth like a change between the inputs and the outputs, so we can trace them back to their origins, based on the inputs, it can be considered as a method to trace, but automating the process is not feasible at the moment, and we've been only asked to prove that such a thing can be true. |

Is it possible to test a theory? kevin cline: well i explained the main idea and what we are trying to do, so far i didn't find a way to do an experiment, so based on your definition it should be the second category, the computer science (i guess). |

Dude, the theory is proven on the paper,and logically its right, and everybody have accepted that. the problem is that the idiot lecturer think that everything in software world should be tested using one the well-known methods, instant: unit, usability and ..... and we are trying to convince him, that such a thing is not possible, you can use those only when you have developed a software, thats why I'm trying to find out if there is a way to use any of those, so the idiot can understand it too!!!! |

Let me see if i got right, you mean if it can produce some results that can be tested, so i can arrange an experiment, and demonstrate the results statistically? well, as i mentioned above here is the idea: to make it very simple, we are trying to prove that if we can't make sure that A does exist, its ok, as long as we know its been created from b+c+d, and we can prove that these 3 have been added to each other, an A should exist somewhere out there, we don't know where is the A, and how can be measured, but we know that there is an A, because there is b,c and d. |

Is it possible to test a theory? I loved your answer :D, you are right i should have wrote it differently, ok its in-feasible to implement it, at the moment,and that was exactly the purpose of this research, we suppose to prove its correct, without any guaranty that it should work, |

Is there any logical relation between different types of UML diagrams? I'm downloading its trial version right now, and about to working with it, actually what I'm working on is to finding the shortest formula that enables developers to tracing a requirement (functional) from its written statement throughout the diagrams I've mentioned above by priority 1-use case 2-event 3-activity 4-sequence 5-class to the code.since the program is new for me , is what I said, what the program does? ( so i can just find the formula it use ) or no its a different thing? |

That's a great Idea, to be honest one the best I've ever heard, By the way I don't understand why you think its more of academical and can't be practical, ( well time can be a concern, since i believe it gone be a bit time consuming), but when it comes to large projects it can be a great idea, (well...if someone can come with a standard solution for it!!) |
