comment How to efficiently troubleshoot or test new code when hardware setup to reproduce bugs is difficult or impossible to obtain?
"Reluctant to give every developer one for their desk". Ironically, you could probably bend the numbers enough to prove that giving each developer their own $60 million plane to work on would be cheaper than the total cumulative cost of an airline disaster!

comment How to bill a client for frequently-interrupted time
I really like this answer, because it considers the true cost of time. Most coders forget that there's more to life than writing code for other peoples' projects.

comment Getting over the mental hurdle with Algorithms?
Reminds me of myself and regular expressions. I use them so infrequently that I've never made a dedicated effort to learn them. But when I need them, I spend hours learning them all over again...

comment Is rotating the lead developer a good or bad idea?
Can confirm. I accepted my first lead role 6 months ago (team of 12 devs), and have never spent as much time not programming as I do now. Mostly just mentoring, managing, and reporting upward.

comment How should I behave as a developer in a project that's headed for failure?
I totally agree with #1. Success can largely be predicted within the first 100 days of the project. If your gut tells you that something isn't right...listen to it.
