comment How to visually link UML use cases to the UML state diagrams or UML activity diagrams that describe each use case?
You're talking purely about linking a UML use-case diagram to a UML state diagram, right? For a minute I thought you meant linking (or generating) between source-code and diagrams.

comment Should a repository or the Login/Register service have an encryption service as a dependency?
I think Ideally the service should modify the domain object and then the modified object is passed to the repository, and neither know about the other. I just wanted to point out that injection was a better alternative than putting the hashing/encryption logic directly in the repo.

comment Checking preconditions the proper way
It's hard to say from this sample, but one possibility to consider is breaking responsibility into two classes. Suppose that Foo has relatively weak checks up until you call some kind of "apply" or "finalize" method, which would do a pass of stricter-checks before creating/modifying your Bar, which would be the object that has to be in a legal state at all times.

comment Storing values in SQL whose types are determined in runtime
This sounds like an inner-platform effect problem. Depending on the details, consider allowing the GUI to execute ALTER TABLE statements (with certain limits, of course) and add fields to the actual table.

comment Identifier vs domain object as a method parameter
Could you edit your question with a bit more context? It's not clear what othe scenario is. I'm going to guess that you're talking about objects which are managed by an ORM system (like Hibernate) and that by "mini-class" you mean a lazy-loading proxy-object.

comment DDD: storing additional data with the model
It this a SaaS thing? Are you trying to support multiple totally-independent customers with the same domain?

comment DDD: placement of method whose behavior may be implemented with single database query
Perhaps there's a new concept to unearth here. Do libraries have "Book Visibility Policies"?
