comment Effective way of keeping past projects with their working development environment?
This was what I've done in the past... was great for supporting different client environments etc.. If you use a base VM, then each successive VM can just be a diff file, which will save on disk space if it's an issue... But I personally think hard drives are cheap. :-)

@TomWij - I've got one client with an intranet application in ASP.Net that integrates with Word. Since they use multiple versions of Office, it's nice to be able to have an image with each version installed. I know it's possible to side-by-side Office and IE. But in reality I find it a pain. VMs just seem a lot cleaner/easier...

Try testing integration with multiple versions of Office. VMs are still amazingly handy to have.
