comment Do I really need oop for my kind of job? After 10 years I think I don't
@user20358 Though I don't know if he's Romanian, I guess it's Alexandrescu's "Modern C++ Design", which at it's time was a groundbreaker, regarding templates and their possible use-cases.

comment Why would it ever be possible for Java to be faster than C++?
+1 I don't like people coding C++ in either C or Java style and then stating Java to be superior. disclaimer: I don't call any language superior, but writing crappy C++ code in a style that might be perfectly suited to another language doesn't make both languages comparable.

@mbq And my pseudocodes have braces, but that's another story ;)

comment “Pythonic” equivalent term for code written in modern C++ style?
@OptimizePrime That would be rather contraproductive, as professionality and cleverness are the last terms I would associate with someone speaking leetspeak.

comment Why python library APIs are more intutive than C++ STL library APIs?
This is rather a question of language use and experience, as both APIs are highly consistent with the general features and programming style of their respective languages. So it is more a question how well you are versed in these languages. And this again depends on your personal experience and preferences. So no, only you can explain why, as it is a subjective judgement.

comment Strictness in programming methods among Stack Overflow users
+1 Experienced this myself, although it didn't strike or annoy me that hard. But it's interesting when you get complaints about not using unique_ptr and proper error handling in a simple 3 line code snippet that's just there to illustrate a simple idea.

comment Do I need to understand pointers to use C++?
@delnan But if you confront someone who only ever learned Java with direct pointers, they look at you and say "huh?" (disclaimer: need not apply to everyone). Therefore direct pointers are a much more fundamental concept, as they don't abstract away the underlying machine architecture into some abstract equality-vs-identity question.

comment Do I need to understand pointers to use C++?
@dysoco Once you understand that ordinary variables (or better, objects) are just things stored in the computers memory, and that pointer variables do nothing more than just store memory addresses, you will realize how easy this whole concept is, just keep at it.

comment Choosing the type of Index Variables
But shouldn't this just delcare i as int, because 0 is an int literal and the auto keyword doesn't "look ahead" to the i < vec.size() expression? Or is a for loop treated with special intelligence by the compiler?
