My name is Andrew Fallows - I hold a B.S. in Software Engineering from RIT. Currently on the job just outside Philadelphia. Particular areas of interest are programming languages and personal productivity, but I'm still very much in "learn everything, try anything once" mode when it comes to technology.

If you see the name 'kaldrenon' somewhere on the internet, odds are good it's me!

comment How to data model more than one 'last name'?
@pablox - that is a very good reason.

Is there a reason you couldn't just have a single name field?

comment At what point can I say I've “learned” a language?
In interviews, you know it if you know it. In the workplace, you know it if Google knows it.

codereview.stackexchange.com is the only website I know offhand, although I'm sure there are others. There's a lot of value in having someone review it personally and talking to them one on one, though. Maybe there's a college/university near you with a friendly professor who'd be willing to meet with you? That's the best thing I can think of on the spot - maybe others will have better ideas.

@SoboLAN I give you my permission to do this. I want pictures, though!

comment Reflective practice in programming using keystroke playback
Could you expand on where you expect to benefit from this that differs from, say, reviewing your code? Unless you're specifically interested in improving as a typist, I'm not sure I see what you'd gain from what you're after.

comment Conceptual question regarding the portability of a software from desktop to mobile
This question is very broad. It would be easy to give you broad, vague pointers, but a lot of the most helpful information would depend on knowing more about the application and your design approach. One thing I can say for certain, though, is that if you plan on having a desktop UI and a mobile UI, separate the underlying interaction with data from the UI as much as possible from the start.
