@David You're right, I don't live in the US. But how many transactions do you do? I do maybe 5 in a busy month, as do most people I know. For heavy users you're right, when incoming SMS cost money this is not a good idea.

@Jeff Siver I know several banks that use SMS for verification. You can log in with account number and a PIN, then for every transaction you receive a unique code via SMS you have to enter.
