comment Any advice from self-taught programmers on competing with more conventional types?
Some googling turned up this blog post about the relationship between programming and music: weblogs.asp.net/rbirdwell/archive/2003/11/14/37643.aspx

I'm a music-composer-turned-software-architect. I do feel I'm better at the big picture, but I assumed it was the other way around: that I became a composer because I like to build systems (such as a composition). In any case, I feel that my main advantage over my peers is that I'm more passionate about software development -- and passion is typical for people in liberal arts.

comment How do you organize your MVC framework while supporting modules/plugins?
@Xeoncross that's true, I haven't really taken reusability into account here. If that's a requirement, you could indeed go one step further and have for example a 'User' module that groups the User model with it's controller, and a Blog module that groups the BlogPost and Comment model with it's controllers. As always: it depends on context :-)
