I have a Ph.D. in nuclear physics from the University of Maryland where I studied pion-nuclear reactions, relativistic nuclear structure and QCD. I've done satellite orbit determination and propagation. Currently I work on high-frequency electromagnetic propagation, interference, and radiation hazard problems. I analyze electromagnetic wave propagation in rough terrain, urban canyon, and airframe and ship topside scenarios.

I do most of my software development in C++ although I invariably mix Fortran, Java, and C# into my projects. I closely follow the progress of the C++ standards committee as new language features and libraries are added.

comment Using scoped enums for bit flags in C++
with C++11 we have std::underlying_type that provides the underlying type of an enum. So we have 'template <typename IntegralType> struct Integral { typedef typename std::underlying_type<IntegralType>::type Type; }; ` In C++14 these is even more simplified to'template <typename IntegralType> struct Integral { typedef std::underlying_type_t<IntegralType> Type; };

@M.Dudley True, but it does touch on stability which was one of my questions (admittedly not the most important to me).

comment Performance overhead of standard containers and boost
I would like to see their performance metrics. I too would like to see why they didn't use a pool allocator with the standard library containers.

Added sourceforge, ask if anyone has surveyed several of these and picked one.
