Also 'lose' not 'loose'. Being able to spell is useful in this field.

comment Is it possible to develop a web application entirely in Javascript today (client and server) including a RESTful API exposing PostgreSQL data?
Wakanda just added SQL Server and MySQL connectors however I think they are only in the Enterprise version. If you could get reports out of the thing, they might be onto something.

comment What stops HTML5 and JS apps to perform as good as native apps?
Add reporting to that.

comment What is easier to do with web applications compared to native GUI applications?
Pure UI which is relatively simple. No web application UI can come remotely close to a good desktop UI without serious pain.

comment Will it ever be possible to build quality websites with editors alone, without needing to know HTML?
It might become possible if we move away from HTML/CSS to something less crap.

comment How many developers on the same virtualized Windows Microsoft machine?
In terms of application development I would agree with most of that (apart from 1), especially if Windows services, web services are involved.

comment Why isn't protection against SQL injection a high priority?
Certainly in the .NET world parameterising is pretty straightforward these days and should indeed be 'page one' stuff.

comment Why there is much more support for closed xls format in rails (and ruby) than to an open ods format?
"equally good open source versions are available?" - well, they aren't equally good beyond relatively trivial usage. For example, in how they can be automated. If they were equally good, business would be stampeding towards them. It's not a case of 'if only they knew ...'

comment What did network programs use to communicate before sockets was invented (around 1983?)
Lots of game development for the 8-bit machines (C64, ZX Spectrum) was done in just that fashion - coding was done on a PC or similar and then sent to the 8-bit machine via serial comms.

comment Why should I adopt MVC?
It might well take more time, in which case you might be better sticking to your own schema. MVC isn't the law or anything - use the right tool for the right job.

comment How can I salvage my internship?
"trying to develop applications from scratch with no form of guidance or even clearly defined goals" - perfect training for real-world software development!

comment Aren't structured programming and object oriented programming complementary?
@Robert Harvey VB6, whatever else you might call it, is definitely not OO.
