comment What discipline does Computer Science belong to?
Calling "software engineering" an "engineering discipline" is insulting for engineering. Ok, it's soulless like engineering, (and that's probably why it got that moniker slapped on by math people) but it certainly isn't accurate enough to be considered hardcore engineering.

comment Should I fix small issues or let them go?
Triaging is nice. Makes lots of sense, yet, I've never heard of the term used in this context. It should. For example, one could triage a fix, without ever scheduling it. There's a nice concept in there. Thanks for sharing.

@WayneWerner, otherwise he can just drop in a //FIXME comment and get back a it... when it matters. If. Ever.

comment Why was GOTO included in PHP 5?
Aye captain! every construct from every programming language ever invented! ...to infinity, and beyond! (and to think that's what they used to say of Perl 5... I'm so proud of this evergrowing little blob of nonsense called PHP)

@Tjaart Things always look obvious after they are discovered, but how do they look after they are renamed?

comment Is the carriage-return char considered obsolete
@EvanPlaice: Writing this question already cost you more of time than simply shoveling in support for CR newlines into your codebase. (...and if you firmly believe this isn't the case, your parser's design must be pretty hectic)
