How to Mentor a Junior Developer And to be clear, I have no intention of hiding knowledge. But it has become clear that what I do know is being taken advantage of (consciously or unconsciously). And I'm not talking about some deep hidden cavern of the technology we're using; I'm talking about the difference between a primitive and an object, or an instance variable and local, or an error message that says exactly what the error is and where to start looking for it. (for reference, my current pupil has 5 years of professional experience; I don't think I'm being unreasonable.) |

How to Mentor a Junior Developer I don't believe you are bucking the trend. This is a good tip; to work with them and show them how you would go about solving the problem (though, one may have to pretend they don't know the answer already [not hide it] to show the process of finding it). |

How to Mentor a Junior Developer @ZJR I'm fine with using the words "training" or "mentor". Either way, I'm not experienced with it and need help and appreciate all the great feedback I've gotten so far. |
