comment Programming language for simple program?
@ironcode I disagree, at least regarding wxPython. It's native. If Windows 7 looks "sleek" and "2011", then, by definition, wxPython apps look sleek and 2011.

comment Learning Python from Beginner to Advanced level
I don't think you provide nearly enough information to know if it is worth it to learn Python. I mean "a really good website" could mean just about anything, from Google to Youtube to Snopes.com, etc. Also, "really good software...on many mathematical and statistical techniques" could mean quite a bit, too. Such programs already exist of course. I just think your description leaves a lot of options open, so it's hard to answer it with any certainty.

comment How does a one-person ISV handle software patent research? What due-dilligence is required?
Generally, the tone here is quite histrionic. Patent lawsuits are certainly a serious problem and an example of simply terrible U.S. law, but getting an accurate assessment of their dangers to small developers is crucial to responding effectively.

3) "In theory a patent holder is obligated to act to enforce their patents whenever they become aware of a violator lest they forfeit their right to enforce the patent. The courts have seen non-enforcement of patents as a signal to the market place that the patent is in the public domain." Nothing I've read about this issue supports this. The mere fact of the danger of submarine patents or patent war chests indicates this cannot be true. It is true of trademarks, however--but that's an entirely different issue.

Based on some research, there appears to be a number of things incorrect about this answer. 1) "Specifically, forming an LLC will only protect your personal assets". Depending on the case, an LLC may not protect you, if it is merely an alter ego of a one-person ISV. 2) "force you into bankruptcy...which is what will happen". If the LLC protects your assets, it is not you who is forced into bakruptcy, but your company. And there is no guarantee that your company will be bankrupted. It all depends on what the judge awards.
