comment How important is the Acid3 Test anymore and what should replace it?
Firefox 11.0a1 currently scores 314, for what it's worth. Also, Firefox 8 has hit the stable channel and has much better memory use ;)

comment Career Day: how do I make “computer programmer” sound cool to 8 years old?
another +1 for the mindstorms idea, especially if you get them involved in making it do stuff.

comment How do I (quickly) let people know that software I am providing for free is not abandon-ware?
Have "New version available" stuff in your code, and push regular updates, even if you've only done minor changes?

comment Is it a good idea for exams to be done on a computer?
For the one uni level exam I've had in which computers where used they set us up in enough labs that each student had 2 computers, just in case, and the internet filtering was cranked way WAY up (we could access the school intranet, but not much else)

comment Is it ethical to teach teens about software viruses?
@Paul The potential, yes. Then again, any person has the potential ability to poison someone. Most won't actually search out that knowledge but they're far more likely to use it negatively if they get taught it (because they actually know how)

comment Is it ethical to teach teens about software viruses?
@cyclops And yet blizzard uses it every day. Yes, there are some problem areas with the tech, but there are more legit uses then, say, viruses.

comment Does a high correlation between burning out and programming exist?
Doctors have quite a high rate of burnout too, but they have a high rate of suicide, rather then lots of job changes...
