revised What's the point of running unit tests on a CI server?
Distinguished between “tests” and “unit tests” more clearly.

comment Refactoring a long method which is based on large number of switch cases
“less centralized, unstable code or more decentralized, stable code” — aren’t “less centralized” and “more decentralized” the same thing?

comment Why are the sizes of programs so large?
“The programs are not doing significantly more functions” — good lord man. Just take a look at the HTML 4 spec and the CSS 1 spec (don’t worry, I’ll wait — it won’t take you long even if you read them). Netscape 4 didn’t even manage to implement those properly. Just the amount of new and crazy HTML and CSS that Chrome supports is considerable. Plus it has tabs. And updates itself every six weeks.

comment How can I write unit tests that simplify feature implementation?
“we have produced a bit of spaghetti code. I'm trying to learn how to use testing and other techniques to improve the code quality” — I know this is a bit tangential, but unit tests don’t do much on their own to prevent spaghetti code. If you write tests first then that forces you to design your code’s interface before you write its implementation, but its implementation (and even it interface) can still be utterly convoluted and impenetrable.

comment Why are people making tables with divs?
@Vilx-: what answers in particular are you talking about? I can’t see one that mentions a difference in layout performance in IE between using actual tables, and display:table. (Regarding the entire table needing to be loaded before it can be displayed, I don’t see how IE would be slower than any other browser at doing that.)

comment What are the pros (and cons) of using “Sign in with Twitter/Facebook” for a new website?
@PeterLeppert: they've heard of Google, Yahoo! and the BBC, but they're less likely to be aware that you can be a member of those things (and they definitely haven't heard of OpenID).
