I'm a software engineer, focusing mostly on the areas of databases and ETL. I'm a bit of a jack of all trades and master of none, and I like it like that - variety being the spice of life, and whatnot...

comment Are stand up meetings really useful?
@MadKeithV My project manager also makes us end every morning meeting with a company chant. This is what would indicate to me that it's been introduced improperly.

comment Can we guarantee a program will never go wrong?
My whole point is that no program is ever "correct". Everything is always a work in progress, and is only ever right until it's wrong. Computer science is a science after all. I do see what you're saying, and that may be more where the focus of his question is. However, I think that makes my answer all the more relevant, rather than less so.

comment Whats sort of platform should I host documentation on?
SP can be a very powerful tool, if implemented and used correctly. Therein lies the problem - implementing and using it correctly is a non-trivial problem, which is why there's a whole industry around SP implementations.

comment My boss wants a narrated line-by-line English explanation of our code
Exactly as well as you might expect. ;) However, the point had been made, and the requests stopped. I don't know whether that was because I had convinced her to the validity of my argument or she decided it wasn't worth the hassle and gave up.
