comment Advantages of using pure JavaScript over JQuery
React all the things, am I right!?!?! /sarcasm - how about pick the right tool for the job @Andy, and it is not always React. I think React is doing some good things, but lets not pretend it is a cure all for the JavaScript world.

Definitely, and I did really like the post! I actually realized it was old (didn't notice exactly 2 years though, funny) so just wanted to point that out for others who might find it.

@Xion that is not actually true, it's a common misconception. The cache "lottery" gain by using Google CDN is actually pretty minimal. bit.ly/remove-jquerycdn - follow the links to the HTML5 Boilerplate repo for the extended discussion.

This is a great post, but I want to take issue with one point - "Huge library...use Zepto/Underscore" - First, Underscore is a completely different type of library - mainly for dealing with arrays/objects - plus use LoDash instead, it's faster. Second, Zepto is smaller BECAUSE it doesn't cover the things jQuery does. That could lead to bugs that jQuery would have fixed. Lastly, jQuery is NOT that huge/monolythic anymore, it's about 30Kb once gzipped, and you can save that by using 1 less image. To me, the dev efficiency gained is worth those bytes.
