comment Where would you put configurable data to minimize Change Management slow downs?
@FrankHileman I don't know for sure, but probably. Prod code reaching outside of a prod environment sounds like a red flag to me. With all the rules in play I may not be able to act outside of them. It probably will go in the database in the end. I was just open to hear other people's clever ideas if they had any.

Our DBAs triage, approve, and execute any prod changes. The company is highly audited by the US government.

comment Is this a proper use of the word “enumerate”?
Yeah, on second read, I think that using GetProcessById is a horrible way to enumerate a list. Still, I believe the word is used properly in the sentence, even if their example of enumeration is questionable...

comment Freedom of Speech vs. Computer Security
@Anna Lear, @rmx, @Oddthinking: I do not seek to shame my school. I love my school, I just hate it's IT as a group (the individuals are pretty cool). I don't even want to publicly shame the IT. I want credit for my work, I worked for 3 or 4 long weeks to fully understand the limits of this exploit. Instead of bringing down the school, I'd like recognition for my hard work.

I'm asking to get an answer. A more abstract question might be "When talking about computer security holes in a public context, how do you respond to censorship requests?" and mine has particular details.

@rmx, the name of my blog is my name: coreyogburn.com. So nothing to worry about the blog name giving away the school it's about.
