comment Helping a new programmer become more self-proficient and not ask me so much?
Yup! Be kind to them! Teach them as much as you can. The number of questions will subside after a while, and you might even make a new friend =)

comment Are Java's public fields just a tragic historical design flaw at this point?
Some Android specific observations: Enums are slower to evaluate than ints and should be avoided . Also, fields frequently accessed by setters and getters in tight loops can also benefit from being public.

comment Stuff every programmer needs while working

comment Is it possible to be good at both programming and graphic design?
Let me rephrase then. You can have a professional level in both design and programming. Professional meaning you make money doing it. I'm pretty sure I could get work as a graphics designer if I wanted to.

Um. What? What do you define as good? Is good: World class, or just better than 98% of the population?

comment What justifies the use of an IDE versus a standard editor?
I would like to turn the question around. What justifies NOT using an IDE.

Sigh... another one of those "IDE's are for pussies" people.

I think you misunderstood your reviewer. He probably wanted you to to add write it like this: const int itemsToRead = 2; if (fscanf(file, "%s %hd",name, nbrObject ) != itemsToRead )

comment What is the (craziest, stupidest, silliest) thing a client/boss asked you to do?
20 pages? That seems like overkill.
