@Chris I agree with your suggestion. I will do it after I get home :)

comment Does your company have a written policy about personal (technical) blogging?
"My personal advice to you is: open up as much as possible" - I am not sure whether all companies will like that approach.

comment Is it good to keep the bugfix comments within the code?
In our team we have a post-commit hook that sends an email to the issue tracker. The issue tracker looks for the commit log message for the issue number and adds and entry to that issue.

comment How do you handle bug tracking in a manner friendly to programmers and non-technical staff?
See here for the available options: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_issue-tracking_systems and decide for yourself which will best suit your needs. Also there is this opensource implementation of Stackoverflow: ra-ajax.org/… which is also a nice option

comment I've been programming in one language for many years. Is this career suicide?
Just curious, which Windows based OOP language that is not popular? All I have heard of is VC++(.NET), VB(.NET) and C#.

comment how to convince manager to allow stack overflow
@FrustratedWithFormsDesigner: Something is better than nothing. @WayneM: Blocking the internet might have been a company wide policy rather than his boss's decision. Suggesting to change the job because he couldn't access SO is a silly reason.

One way to get stack overflow is by subscribing to your interested tag sets via email. Have you tried that?
