An elevator might work differently if you are ferrying war planes (aircraft carrier), hazardous materials (nuclear power plant), wounded people (hospital), or commuters (office block). Although your basics are good basics -- plus it's a simulator: a perfectly spherical homogeneous elevator moving in a vacuum. ^_~
