comment Why isn't Java more widely used for game development?
@Uri: So was the new Sim City and look how that turned out.

comment Divide and Conquer algorithms – Why not split in more parts than two?
+1 for "These days hardly anyone programs their own sorting algorithms anymore" and (more importantly) "Remember: by far the most important performance improvement is when the code goes from "not working" to "working"." However, I would like to know if that overhead is still trivial if, for example, one splits the data set into many, many parts. As it so happens, so have other people: bealto.com/gpu-sorting_intro.html stackoverflow.com/questions/1415679/… devgurus.amd.com/thread/157159

comment My Dad is impatient with the pace of my learning to program. What do I do?
+1 for "Remember that your dad probably thinks that..." In all likelihood he loves you and is trying to help you learn and grow in something you find fun. Maybe your Dad is the kind of person you can sit down and talk to and explain step by step what you've gone through and how you've progressed to get where you are. Maybe that will help him understand that programming isn't an instant skill one can pick up. FWIW I think that what you've done @David is pretty darn good progress so far.

comment What is the best strategy for licensing a desktop application using a web service, when all I need to know is when people use the product?
OK, I think I now understand what you meant to say.

comment What is the relevance of resumes in the age of GitHub, Stack Exchange, Coursera, Udacity, blogs, etc.?
@Paul: Only if it's a gaming company and the headshot you're talking about is along the lines of "BOOM! HEADSHOT!" :-)
