Perhaps you can rename the branch or add a last commit with a comment that this is a 'dead' branch and why you don't continue to use it.

Did you take a look to [gits submodules}(git-scm.com/book/en/Git-Tools-Submodules)? You could create a big project, the shared code and all projects buils there own submodules. (I'm not familiar with submodules, so I can't give you a real answer).

Your project folder is a separate area, not where you're serving your files from (that's github).

@KChaloux It's an own Method-object. The Method-class is inheriting from Proc. But I'm no expert for this, that's why I am curious on other answers for this question ;)

@JimmyHoffa In ruby you can get a Method-object with Object#method. The Method object acts as a closure in obj’s object instance, so instance variables and the value of self remain available.

know sqlite. But if I want to modify data (e.g. a quick change to test something), I need a short script/command or an administration tool. With json (I use yaml) I can use the editor and change the textfile.

In my company it's the opposite. The company 'close', so we schedule our 'big' upgrades in this times, the downtime of the servers have not the big effects.
