Why is it so hard to get employees to update the issue tracker? "implement a tracking system which actually helps them do their job better." Can you give an example? Of something that helps them that is, not a specific tracking system. |

Are there any reasons not to accept a software deliverable as a virtual machine? For #4, if I had to choose between complex (but documented) setup vs slow development, I'd opt for the former. I'll be doing that only once so can deal with the annoyance. The latter is what I will be doing all the time and having that be slow will be incredibly frustrating. |

Are there any reasons not to accept a software deliverable as a virtual machine? Would any license you have cover VMs given to you by an external party (possibly without the rights to hand out Windows VMs)? |

Is it the job of programmers to design the database? "Not an exaggeration." It is, unless you can qualify this claim somehow. |

Asking for a code sample of the company at an interview "I always ask to see some code" How after are you actually shown code though? Are you asking for them to prepare something beforehand or send you something afterwards? No matter which way you look at it, it seems impractical. |

What is the relevance of resumes in the age of GitHub, Stack Exchange, Coursera, Udacity, blogs, etc.? When applying for jobs, the responsibility is on you to make it as easy as possible for the recruiter (technical or otherwise) to pick you. If you give them a research assignment then you're giving the recruiter little incentive to choose you. |
