comment Can/should one record unstructured suggestions and feedback in an issue tracker?
I've updated the question to specify that it's verbal feedback we need to record (sorry for the ambiguity). That noted, would such a system work with a member of the team adding clients' comments on their behalf?

I should have specified that I'm referring to verbal feedback in meetings, etc. not electronically submitted requests. Sorry for the ambiguity. I've edited the question to clarify.

comment How many monitors do you use? Why? How they are used?
Nice monitors and all, but more importantly, what is that ergonomic beverage augmentation device I see on the bottom left?

comment Is it out of line to give unsolicited constructive criticism to a programmer?
I hope I would always appreciate feedback about my work from anybody that took the time to offer me advice, regardless of their profession, and that I can continue to learn from others throughout my career. But I admit there are lots of other factors like context, delivery and organisational structure that will affect how advice is received, so I think you're probably right to advise caution :)

@dannywartnaby, yeah the data is pretty sensitive. A non-finger-pointing word with management seems like a good idea, though we're a charity so proper solutions are often financially precluded. Also, social work is basically unit testing for wetware :)

I agree that this program is probably not going to get fixed, but I'm mostly thinking about helping him avoid these practices in future projects (that I may end up using!).
