I've recently completed my MSc Computer Science from a UK institution, and have moved back to the US to begin work. I write in my spare time, enjoy cooking, and apparently am addicted to signing up for SE sites :).

comment Whiteboard “testing” during an interview: legitimate way to back up your (whiteboard) code?
I know this is old but I just got linked to it, and I wanted to point out: one of the hallmarks of a visual processing disorder is lack of ability to estimate the space you're writing in and therefore ending up running out of room. If the person you're evaluating not only runs out of room for more lines, but also has characters get smaller toward the end of a line as they realize they've begun too big, they might just have a learning disability rather than not understanding how long the code will be. Ask them to estimate something non-spatial and you may get a better result.

Downvote revoked; it's still not the answer I'd hoped for but at least it's answering the question more now. Thanks

@Snowman I tossed in more clarification. Really, anything that can do so without as much human effort would be welcome, and if there's nothing out there, I'd like to know that too.

I find answers that offer no solutions but instead challenge the frame of the question are rarely useful. This is one of many avenues I'm pursuing; what I need is information on how plausible this would be, to weigh against other options. Your answer gives me no useful information, and feels like a rant instead. Perhaps I shouldn't have asked at all.

Eh, that's out of my hands. The team wants to have a standard quoting rule, and I'm looking for possibilities to make that not painful. If they change their minds and want to remove the rule, that's totally fine by me, but it's not my call to make decisions like that for the whole team, that's on the team leads.

@MichaelT Good idea, it might be better there. I don't see a migration option to rec in the flags though
