About #2: please configure your IDE correctly. Eclipse has this stupid idea of defaulting to some Windowish file encoding which can bring havoc in a Linux server.

I really love Python, but please, don't compare SQLAlchemy (or JDBC) with Hibernate or any other mainstream Java ORM. Maybe in five years, but not now.
