comment Why don't developers make installation wizards on linux?
@API-Beast It's only as up-to-date as they bother to package it. I don't know of too many projects that make installers for each commit.

@marczellm Your comment is a non-sequitur. There's no reason to think that the Windows Installer is anymore up-to-date than the repo packages.

@Benjol Android and Chrome are both stored in git. I don't know of any public Google projects using Mercurial.

answered From a high level programming perspective, where does the 'different-paradigm' barrier between C# and F# really kick in?

comment What is the best unit test framework for .NET and why?
@YannTrevin What's the status of Gallio/MbUnit? I looked at the Google Code repository and it doesn't seem to have any recent changes. Is development happening somewhere else or is the project stalled?

comment Design patterns - do you use them?
@DeadMG Could you provide a link which expands on your position with respect to "the need for something more generic than foreach"? I've never heard this viewpoint and would like to understand it better.

comment For what reasons should I choose C# over Java and C++?
I think a closer analogy would be the Base Class Library to the JDK. The BCL has standardized and unstandardized parts. The mono project implements the standardized as well as much of the unstandardized pieces.

"I cannot have fully fledged C# on Linux" - Could you elaborate on this? Do you mean that the full .Net framework isn't available because I haven't run into any issues with the C# language itself (or F# for that matter) on Linux?

comment Why is C++ still preferred to build heavy GUI apps over the latest dynamic languages?
Your second point isn't entirely true. The VB.NET compiler is writen in VB.NET and the F# compiler is written in F#. The C# compiler isn't but from what has been released about project Roslyn, I think the C# compiler is being rewritten in C#.
