It may have sounded like a rant but I felt I needed to give background information so others could understand the context. The very question in there specifically asks: How do I become an agent of change? My hopes were that others with similar experiences might suggest how they have overcome these obstacles and the best path. Could it be getting buy-ins, going rogue w/ my own project analysis, etc. This is not necessarily a general job question as I am specifically a programmer looking to make changes to poor programming practices in an I.T. department. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Bye the way, to clarify, I'm using MVVM and I pass my BLL service getter into my ViewModel class because we have different business logic depending on the customer.
