My background is in theoretical/mathematical physics [MPhys/PhD], I was a Senior Computational Fluid Dynamics Analyst in the nuclear/defense industry before selling my sole and becoming a full-time commercial software developer around 2011.

This sound promising. This is what I though might be possible (to provide the object files to be linked their-end). Why do you say "it will introduce more problems that it is worth"?

There has to be a better way than that, surely?

Agreed, the issue I need to get around is the requirement to log on to expensive servers to compile for each platform and there are many. The time on these servers is like 1000USD per hour and it takes a while to do this. Any other way apart from going on to the correct architecture and 'manually' compiling I am open to...

I am already building the binaries for each platform and distributing those - this takes time and money to do. What I want to know is any fancy method in which I can supply some sort of Bootstrapper to the user which will compile/build the .exe for them. Perhaps using object files instead of source files?

Dude, I understand that. There are things like cross-compilers and other tools that I am not familiar with that could potentially help me here. Moreover, there may be something that I can do with object files and some sort of Bootstrapper/MakeFile. I would like to hear suggestions of possible solutions, not just 'No'.

But this is what I have said we are doing now. We compile all of the versions and send the correct one upon request. What I want is a method whereby we can send out a generic package which they can compile on there own architecture without us having to compile for all platforms...

comment Best Practice Method for Including Images in a DataGrid using MVVM
Some 'genius'/MVVM purest was having a go at me about a question I asked (and subsequently removed due to annoyance) on StackOverflow. Because I have never done this before, rather than argue I thought I would find out about the recommended approach first... Thanks for your time.

comment Algorithm to denormalize database
No real working database can ever be "fully" normalised. We are talking about a 2nd normal form standard. A fully normailised database is an phantom that I personally have never come accross...
