System Architect / Senior Software Developer in Calgary, Alberta. Consulting on various projects, mostly with a .Net or classic ASP background. I've been developing Web applications and Websites for over a decade now ranging from using a propietary markup and ISAPI extensions(C/C++) to Classic ASP(VBScript) to ASP.Net(C# 1.0/1.1/2.0/3.5/4.0/MVC) I enjoy solving puzzles such as Sudoku and mysteries. My previous work involves using various Agile practices,e.g. Scrum and pair-programming, on a CMS project within an IS department's web development group.

I enjoy sharing what I've experienced, learned or think may be worth sharing with the world.

comment Remote development environment. Hacking development workflow
Web based game, traffic reports, real-time stock data, or something else? Again, there are more than a few factors even within web-based systems.

You don't state what you are developing where if you were developing for custom displays then a cloud based simulation may not work that well. Similarly, if you work on embedded devices there may be the need for a physical device where the cloud may not be that great. Remember to look at what you don't state in your question.

comment AJAX - What exactly does that encompass?
stackoverflow.com/questions/7639224/javascript-multithreading would note some multi-threading in brosers for a source on my side. Do you have a source that says JS only runs in 1 thread and can't split execution to more than that thread?

Have you ever had AJAX bugs to resolve that involved multiple threads and variable issues because the success or error function is running in a different scope?

comment How much time do programmers spend each day coding?
Would gathering requirements, designing solutions, deploying solutions, fixing bugs, writing documentation and doing code reviews count as programming or not?

comment Second AJAX call unloading result of the first
Could you try copying the results of the first call into a local variable? There may be something to the variable being changed that could be an issue as it could appear that the "xmlhttp" variable is global in scope which may cause the issue. The other thought is to up the timeout between calls as that could also be something different when debugging.

comment Who is a tester?
IIRC, I learned about black box and white box testing in university and that was nearly 20 years ago now.

comment Is it recommended to use more than one language at a startup?
How well do you understand the maintenance costs associated with using other tools and platforms? Have you thought this part through if it does add a lot of overhead for those maintaining the infrastructure, I'm not sure you have a good solution in this case.
