comment Why isn't Java used for modern web application development?
Hot deploy works with ide as long as you are not using something like maven.

comment Is it OK to use same variable to store similar stuff sequentially?
Interesting, i usually declare a new variable (mostly because its name will be more meaningfull increasing readability) in most of the cases, but i want a feedback from the community

comment use areFoo or isFoo?
"is" prefix is only for primitive boolean properties. With object Boolean the "get" prefix is still used

comment Is it poor practice to call methods through multiple objects?
Also you dont really have a choice when using apis and frameworks. It is just not worth it. So sometimes you will have chains of getX().getY().getZ()

comment Programming to interface in Java
@AnoopssGolden see interface as some sort of contract, a class can also provide this sort of contract. For instance there is no point in defining a "Java interface" for certain types of model objects (because, frankly, it is an overkill). But still they provide an interface

Not that programming to an interface does not obligatory mean an actual java interface, it may also be a class.

comment External id for every relational table

comment External id for every relational table
From a purely relational point of view this is a wrong thing to do. You should have your CustomerId column in CustomerPurchase and a constraint "binding" it to Customer (foreign key). Now if this design is for SAP (which i dont know) maybe you should say in your question that this design is made specifically for a SAP system

comment TDD Mock call verification - is it an anti-pattern?
Short answer: yes. There are very interesting questions about this topic already somewhere here. Your unit tests should not be fragile and depend heavily on your implementation. This is why higher level tests are for (integration, etc.). Here: programmers.stackexchange.com/questions/198453/…

comment ROA on top of SOA
I plan to do something similar in the future, the first thing that comes to mind is to delegate calls from REST to actual services (in my case EJBs). I will be using CDI for this (i use JEE 6). Which stack do you use ?

comment Can too much abstraction be bad?
+1 for "Good Tailor's don't leave reams of fabric at each seam just incase you happen to grow a third arm, or become pregnant". We often tend to design software this way, sadly.

comment What is good way to maintain library project without redundancy?
What do you mean ? You should be able to store your library in one place and then just reference it. It will appear in every project but that does not mean that it is duplicated
