comment Why are more programmers not freelance these days?
@Nemeth: Is it sexist towards girls (because it implies objectification) or towards guys (because nobody considers us a benefit)?

comment Why do operating systems do low level stuff in C and C++? Why not just C++?
You're right. As a whole they clearly don't, but there are bound to be some kernel programmers there who do.

@Ramhound It gives you the perspective you need to make an informed decision about whether to use it or not. It gives you more options and more confidence. And honestly - who in their right mind wouldn't use it after learning it?

comment When should I make the first commit to source control?
I disagree. If my code doesn't compile when I want to commit, I write WIP somewhere in the commit message. Then I can just ignore those commits when I need the latest version that compiles.

comment What are the ways to start making actual/real-world programs using Java/C++ to excel my Programming Skills?
Yes. If you show initiative and skill they will want you even if you don't have much experience. It's valuable to them because it makes it more likely that you will apply for a full-time job there after you complete your degree.

Yes you can use C++ without a heap, but then you lose most of the features that differentiate C++ from C. So you might as well write in C.
