What exactly do you believe in A Theory of Moderation? I've seen that thrown around a lot and I'd like to hear your understanding of it.

You mention that one of your goals as a moderator will be to grow our Meta. How do you plan on achieving this? Same question for the blog - what are you going to do that hasn't already been tried, that will (hopefully) result in a successful launch?

@jcolebrand: You know, it wouldn't be a bad idea to get some of your people from dba.se to create accounts here just so they can vote for you! Technically that counts as promoting P.SE, right? :)

I support jcolebrand. He's really dedicated to this site, provides high quality answers and is a man of reason and does not react emotionally like others do. A vote for jcolebrand is a downvote for SOPA!

@SnOrfus: Here's one exception I was trying to link to - ran out of characters :) BTW, you have my vote 100% - if I could vote for you with all my three votes, I would. Going through some of your history here, I think you'd bring a refreshing change to the moderators here on P.SE.

@SnOrfus: Also, wrt your algorithms point, what good would bringing them over to P.SE do? You have people here who feel that P.SE questions should be lightly sprinkled with source code (I'm paraphrasing), whereas the majority of those questions are source code heavy. How would someone effectively demonstrate an answer without getting into source code (and possibly even language specific source code)? Granted I understand there are exceptions, but I bring this up because you feel that nearly all of them belonged here.

@SnOrfus: You brought up ..SO moderators aren't doing their part .. entire classes of questions .. get posted to SO which .. aren't within SO's scope and should be here. Why do you feel it's their duty (SO moderators that is) to help or promote P.SE (in this context), do you not consider this to be a job of a P.SE moderator? And do you not feel that this is currently happening? (in some form or the other)

comment Designing web-based plugin systems correctly so they don't waste as many resources?
+1 Good question! I would perhaps focus the scope a bit just so it seems less open-ended - anyway just a thought.

comment Image color/grayscale classification
@Framester I disagree. The OP isn't asking for code to get this done, he's asking for strategies to classify these images and if I'm not mistaken, this is well within the scope of Programmers.SE.

comment Jump into Android or learn Java basics first?
Short answer: Learn Java first before you jump into Android programming. It may seem simple enough for your basic hello world app but anything more complicated than that and you'll run into problems when debugging just because you're not aware of some of the quirks. I'll try to post a longer answer (pointing out a few of the rookie mistakes I come across on SO) when I get some time.

What are you currently using as the backend? Is it an EC2 instance, AppEngine, ..?

comment what techniques can be used to implement Facebook's People You May Know feature?
Read up on the Netflix Algorithm that won the Netflix Prize and you'll see that something like this is not as trivial as it sounds.
