comment What strategies are you using to migrate your web site from Silverlight to HTML5 + JavaScript?
Depends, first of all, it would be helpful if you could either point us to your current site, or simply specify some of the requirements (Form Heavy? Videos? Lots of Animations?)

comment Web development in a small team - best practices
Ensure easy replication and have a local development setup. Trust me, everything is does not scale, never, ever. This also gives the advantage of finding issues that arise from different server configs earlier :)

comment How can I configure my programming environment to enable rapid switching between projects?
In terms of Emacs that's not even a joke: gamma-level.com/iphoneos/ports/emacs But well, these guys just stick to their OS.

comment How can I prepare for an interview over TeamViewer and Skype?
Well, tell them that you're focusing on the big picture. Not on tiny little problems which have been solved thousands of times before. So they don't want you to waste your time on that stuff, but rather to work on the actual functionality of their awesome new product. If they don't understand it, you can't do anything about it. In the end it might just as well be that they don't care about you using Google etc. :)

Well, programmers are not paid for remembering every single function there is. PHP.net is a great resource for a reason. If they don't hire you just because you use PHP.net and Google, they're stupid. Where I work, using Google in on-site interviews IS what we want, in case you don't use it and spend half of your time re-inventing some stupid algorithm, your problem :O

comment Bitwise-OR vs Adding Flags
+1 indeed I also think that OR makes it more clear that those are flags, but concerning the efficiency there are languages where bitwise operations are slow, e.g. JavaScript all Numbers are 64 floats bitwise operators need to do implicit conversion on those.
