It seems the ids for transactions should come from the server as well so there is a centralized order for commands/instructions.

@JoeZeng, if the concept is named the same way for networks, then yes.

Jeez, this might be worth more trouble than it is worth.

But it seems we need some kind of queue then? What if the lock doesn't get to the server until after I let go? And then the unlock signal gets processed faster than the lock signal? Then the lock signal will get processed and lock if forever (unless I check if the lock is already owned by me).

@MichaelT Unfortunately, there are no hard specifications. There is no customer, yet. The person in charge said he would like people to have control over all objects, but I can convince him of another strategy if the new one is better. Your solution would not allow users to interact with each other efficiently if they need to compare two objects or etc.

comment “Never do in code what you can get the SQL server to do well for you” - Is this a recipe for a bad design?
I am a new developer, but regarding "dangerously assumes the database will only be...", why is it dangerous?

@greyfade Thanks for suggestion, downloading. I figured out my program is very slow reading for the database (Access file). Hopefully this will help me out.

@MikeNakis I found out that when the program reads from the database (Access file), on average, it takes 5 times longer, and up to 10 times longer (measures in milliseconds). Will keep researching and post back.

@MikeNakis It was crashing, just fixed it. There is a lot of code, getting close to finding out out what's slowing it down. However, I did find that the GUI spawns 2x more threads.

@RobZ Isn't maxing out the processor == fast as possible?
