In Ada, using BASE**SOME_EXPONENT is used very often. It's part of the language. But it does not have pointer syntax, though you can do pointers.

I don't mind code reviews at all, but don't nitpick. That means I have to address the perceived "defect" x number of times. That wastes time and is frustrating.

yea, gdb is good for examining dumped core, but in situations like that, I found that gratuitous use of print statements really helped.
