comment Capitalization convention for C# protected fields
you have been a little selective in not including the "Do not use a prefix for field names." from MSDN alongside the Pascal casing rule :) While it is true that resharper by default promotes _ prefix, if you are quoting MSDN conventions IMHO you should not mix them with your own impressions.

comment Capitalization convention for C# protected fields
Are you sure _myVar is the right convention for private fields? (you are making a premise that it is) Not trying to start a religious war here, just trying to say that if you opted for some kind of arbitrary rule for private fields, you can pick another rule for your protected fields. The only advice is to be consistent.

comment Is the creation of brand new software generally a major part of most programming jobs?
...or they survived because there was someone with enough decision making influence and with a hidden interest in keeping the legacy mammoth going for 10 or more years, like securing his job, pension, or just being too incompetent and his skills being too outdated to find a new job

comment How to make people new to programming stop asking me questions and distracting me?
Listening to them explain their code would take even more of his time, wouldn't it? Even though if he takes the other advice and charges money for it, then it is a different story :)

comment Coworker that detrimentally picks on every minutia
You definitely should talk to management. In the long term, Chris will frustrate you and the rest of the team and it will cause a lot more harm to the whole company compared to just getting rid if him.

comment What would be a few ideas/concepts from programming that I can have on paper and hang on a wall as art?
Hehe :) I think my attention was so much grabbed to the amazing fireworks that I forgot to read what is above it :)

comment How would you highlight code?
I had to uninstall f.lux because it was making me nauseous every evening when it decided that the sun has set and suddenly changed the color temperature...I felt like I was passing out during that few seconds.

comment Do people in non-English-speaking countries code in English?
@xsl, Thorbjørn: this is XML documentation in C#. Technical documentation can be generated from these XML comments. There is a tool called Ghostdoc that creates and fills these stubs automatically, so creating these 7 lines of documentation does not require typing at all. While it usually does not provide value to the programmer who edits the code, visually, it separates methods and is not obtrusive.

I am sure the next employer will like Scenario 3 a lot. And they will cheerfully pay you even less than the current one, expecting you to happily contribute to their success..almost for free ;)

Did you earn most of your reputation during working hours? If yes, I would rather not talk about this to the interviewer.
