If you have any questions about the moderation on Programmers, please post a question on meta or chat. Any other attempts at communication will be ignored.

I've been a developer for over 30 years in one form or another. I learnt Pascal at University and my first job was programming in Fortran 66. I've since moved to C# & .NET via Ada, C and C++.

Over the years I've worked for companies of all sizes from 3 person startups to multi-national organisations with 1000's of employees. I've also worked at all levels from junior programmer to team lead/technical architect and one stint as a manager. I've seen various development methodologies from classic waterfall to Scrum implemented and used with varying degrees of success.

comment How do you learn a new programming language?
@Naveen - Code Project might be a good place to start. The applications/classes are usually very small as they are showcasing some aspect of the language.

comment Job hopping, is it a problem?
@BenAlabaster - I was coming from the perspective of hiring a permanent employee. If I was hiring for a contract then the number of jobs would be (largely) irrelevant. I'll update the answer to make that clear.

comment Job hopping, is it a problem?
@SnOrfus - the question was about a job every 18 months to 2 years. If it was 10 jobs in 3 years the warning would be very loud!
