+1 for "You'll appreciate the constructs in higher-level programming languages more" alone. Great answer.

comment Splitting code from form operations in C#
I would add, 5. Keep code in event handlers to a minimum. It's easy to violate the DRY principal w/ code duplication in them.

comment Splitting code from form operations in C#
Like all things, it's not an absolute avoidance of course. When I see need for regions in my code, I consider refactoring the 'region' out into it's own class.

comment What do you do to make sure you take proper/enough breaks, while avoiding unwanted side-effects of break taking?
+1 for physical exercise. I like to run or bike 30-45 minutes for lunch, taking only very small breaks in the morning and afternoon. This has so many benefits: clear head, endorphin rush, counter acts our sedentary workplace, etc...

comment How to answer to this HashTable interview question?
I believe @SRKX was using C# in his example, where hashCode is the Java equivalent. The answer is valid in both languages.

Hire some of my ex-coworkers... no one will figure out the code.

comment What are the disadvantages of automated testing?
As someone who works 80% of a very large legacy code base, I couldn't agree more. However, to mitigate this, I've used some of this in [link]amazon.com/Working-Effectively-Legacy-Michael-Feathers/dp/… are worth the look.
